Management Platform Architecture

Smartphone data in the enterprise cloud
The Smartphone data in the enterprise cloud is the core concept of the MobileIron Virtual Smartphone Platform. A central repository contains all data associated with the company’s smartphones. This gives IT, finance, and end-users visibility and control over the smartphone lifecycle that was previously unachievable.

Data visibility with enterprise boundaries
Context. Match activity to location, time, and operator network quality
Activity. Analyze patterns of user behavior to reduce cost and optimize services
Content. Identify what files are on each phone to secure them and minimize impact of loss
Application. Provision, configure, and troubleshoot applications with minimal user interruption
Device. Track settings and status for basic inventory, configuration, policy, and security functions
How the MobileIron Virtual Smartphone Platform works:
- The MobileIron server is installed in the enterprise data center.
- The MobileIron client is deployed over-the-air to the company's smartphones or tablets.
- Privacy policies control the cloning of data from the phones to the appliance.
- The IT administrator accesses the Advanced Management and Mobile Activity Intelligence from a web-based portal. Actions are taken on the virtual phone data and then synchronized to the actual phone(s) when complete.
- End users access MyPhone@Work services from a web-based portal or, in future releases, directly from their smartphones.
